Meet Our Founding Physiotherapists
Laura Mackley
My journey began in 2009 where I studied Sports and Exercise Science at The University of Sunderland. I developed a keen Interest in the human body and anatomy which lead me to my interest in Physiotherapy.
I started my Physiotherapy journey at County Durham and Darlington foundation trust as a Physiotherapy assistant, supporting patients throughout the rehab journey.
I honed my skills and knowledge as a therapy assistant for five years. This invaluable experience immersed me in the intricacies of patient care and reinforced my dedication to supporting individuals on their path to recovery. It was during these formative years that I realised my true calling lay in reablement—a specialised area of rehab that focuses on helping people regain their independence after illness, injury, or surgery.
My love for physiotherapy and supporting the community grew stronger giving me the drive to return to university to study a BSc hons in Physiotherapy at Northumbria University. I ventured into the field of physiotherapy, determined to make a positive difference on people's lives.
In my current role as a rehab specialist, my passion for reablement has flourished. I take great pride in my ability to provide expert care that not only addresses the physical aspects of recovery but also fosters a sense of empowerment among my patients. I believe that every individual has the potential to overcome obstacles and achieve their personal goals. My aim is to guide them through their journey with compassion, expertise, and unwavering support.
My approach is rooted in a deep respect for the resilience of each patient, combined with a thorough understanding of the most effective and innovative physiotherapy techniques. Whether it's assisting a patient in taking their first steps after surgery or helping someone rediscover their confidence to perform daily tasks independently, my focus is always on enabling individuals to live their lives to the fullest.
At CRS, we are committed to offering personalised, patient-centered care that goes beyond physical rehabilitation. We strive to inspire our patients, instilling in them the courage and strength to reclaim their autonomy and enjoy a quality of life they may have thought was out of reach.
Together at CRS, we can achieve remarkable progress and celebrate every milestone along the way. Your empowerment and recovery are our highest priorities, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you towards.
Jamie Haughey
I started my career in a background in Sports and Exercise Sciences (BSc) from The University of Sunderland and decided to further my knowledge in the quest of becoming a physiotherapy due to an interest with anatomy and physiology. I continued my studying at Teesside University completing a MSc in Physiotherapy, my academic journey has been rigorous and fulfilling. My professional path began with completing various rotations as a junior in County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT), which provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of patient care. This experience was pivotal in shaping me to specialise as a Musculoskeletal physiotherapist, where the focus has always been on enhancing patient outcomes through targeted interventions.
I am a seasoned physiotherapist with a rich background in both the academic and practical realms of physical therapy and rehabilitation. At the heart of our mission is a deep-seated belief that every individual deserves access to high-quality care and rehabilitation services.
My tenure within the NHS was an eye-opener to the myriad OF challenges confronting adult health and social care. It became increasingly apparent that despite the dedication of healthcare professionals everywhere, there are significant constraints and issues that hinder the delivery of effective care and rehabilitation services. This realisation stirred a passion within me to contribute towards bridging these gaps and led me to the wonderful opportunity to be a part of CRS.
At CRS, we are not just addressing the shortfalls in care and rehabilitation; we are passionately working towards revolutionising how care is delivered and perceived. Our aim is to empower carers with the essential skills and knowledge to support reablement effectively. By focusing on upskilling carers, we directly impact the quality of care received by individuals, thereby fostering faster and more sustainable recoveries.
I am thrilled to be part of a dynamic team at CRS, where together, we strive to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Our commitment to excellence, combined with a collaborative approach to learning and development, positions us as a beacon of hope and progress in the therapy training sector.
At CRS as we embark on this journey to enhance the standards of care and support across communities. Together, we can create a future where every individual, irrespective of their circumstances, access to the best possible rehabilitation and support services.
Lauren Tate
Lauren has an unwavering belief in the power of reablement, a belief deeply rooted by her extensive and diverse experience.
Lauren's journey into the world of physiotherapy began at York St John’s University, where she qualified in 2013. Her dedication and passion for patient care were honed through her core junior rotations within County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, leading her to a senior physiotherapist post at Newcastle upon Tyne Teaching Hospitals. However, Lauren's quest for excellence and a deeper understanding of rehabilitative therapy didn't stop there.
In 2016, Lauren embarked on an international journey, moving to Auckland, New Zealand, to specialise in Neuro rehabilitation. Her commitment to enhancing patient care and her relentless pursuit of knowledge led her to Brisbane, Australia, in 2019, where she served as the Allied Health Clinical Manager at Robina Private Hospital. Throughout her career, Lauren has worked across multiple healthcare systems, each step further cementing her belief in the critical role of reablement and functional independence for patients.
Today, Lauren brings this wealth of international experience and insight back to the UK, where she currently works as the Clinical Lead of Therapy for community hospital wards at the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
